Turmeric Latte
Have you ever tried a Turmeric Latte? It is similar to a Chai Latte, but not so sweet. The great thing about this delicious drink is that it reduces inflammation. As we age it’s even more important to try to eliminate inflammation in our bodies as much as possible. The wonderful thing about this drink is that it’s also caffeine free!
Serves 2 (teacup size)
Ingredients:
- 350 ml milk (Almond or Coconut milk. I like to combine 1/2 of each. The coconut milk makes it richer and smoother as well).
- 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- A grind of Black Pepper (this ensures you get the health benefits of the Turmeric)
- 1/4 teaspoon Cardamom Ground Powder
- 1/4 teaspoon Cinnamon Powder
- 1/4 teaspoon Ground Ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 1 teaspoon Maple Syrup (or Honey). I prefer maple syrup as it really brings out the spices in the drink. It provides a sweetness without it being too much.
Method:
Place all the ingredients in a saucepan and stir gently over a low heat. You can also use a small hand-held milk-frother if you wish, near the end of the heating process. This will give it a nice froth. Once its hot, pour into your favourite cup and sprinkle with cinnamon. Sip, relax and enjoy. Yum!
