Seeing Age Through a New Lens

Alex Rotas is a photographer who enjoys taking photos of older sportsmen and women. She only started learning photography when she retired at 60. Now in her late sixties, she has found her passion and takes fantastic photos of older people performing their sport and celebrating their fitness in their later years.

Getting outside of her comfort zone, she also gives talks and presentations about her love of photography to other mature adults, inspiring them to take up an interest or hobby of their own.

Alex is challenging stereotypes of old age and helping to create a ‘new ageing narrative’. This video is about Alex and her work. It’s also about the perception of growing old in our society and how we can open up our minds to what’s possible as we age. What an inspiration she is!

Is there an interest or hobby you have always been intending to start? Or perhaps you are already doing it? Love to hear your comments.
