It is well worth going to see this wonderful exhibition if you live in Sydney, or are visiting. I went along a week ago and really enjoyed it.

The Archibald Prize is one of the nation’s most popular, prestigious and oldest art awards. Art has no boundaries; it spans all ages and cultures. Art should be for everyone to appreciate and enjoy. This exhibition fulfils these aims.

The Young Archie competition (the children’s section of this exhibition), has some remarkable works by very young artists. Personally, I think they should be displayed along with the adult works. If you have a look at the artworks on this page by James Camilleri and Oliver Freeman, I am sure you will agree.

The Art Gallery NSW also has a fabulous restaurant upstairs called Chiswick At the Gallery (one of Matt Moran’s). You can indulge in lunch, sip on a wine and enjoy the view of Sydney Harbour and its environs. Oh yes! Nearly forgot to tell you about the fabulous Gallery Shop with books and more..! There is also a Cafe at the Gallery and a Pop-up Bar, so lots to see and do!
Not to forget the beautiful Botanical Gardens that the Gallery is situated in. It’s an easy five-minute walk from the Martin Square Train Station. So, it makes for a great day out!
